Spielberg in Berkshire? No Big Deal 🎬

Newbury’s not too distant neighbour, Englefield, just got a sprinkle of Hollywood magic as Steven Spielberg swung by the set of The Thursday Murder Club. The Netflix and Amblin Partners’ film, based on Richard Osman’s bestseller, stars heavyweights like Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and David Tennant. Filming is underway at Englefield House, with the crew recently spotted at St Mark’s Church— where Pippa Middleton tied the knot, no less. Written and directed by Chris Columbus of Harry Potter fame, this flick’s got all the makings of a hit. No release date yet, but keep your eyes peeled—this one’s bound to be big​.

Beer and Cheers: Catherine Wheel’s Bank Holiday Bash

This weekend, Newbury’s Catherine Wheel on Cheap Street is turning up the taps for a four-day beer fest. Starting Thursday, August 22, they’re serving up a rotating cast of six cask ales inside, plus a special line-up of locally brewed ales in the beer garden. Whether you’re into craft brews, continental sips, or even something booze-free, they’ve got you covered. Landlord Warwick Heskins, who’s been steering this ship for a decade, is set to pass the baton next year, so expect him to pull out all the stops. Pop by for a pint or two and toast to good company and great brews all weekend long​.
